The beginning...

I can’t remember the exact date. It was the end of February or the beginning of March. There was a U-Haul truck in front of our house. Not a big truck, one of the smaller ones. I saw a couple of guys walking away from the truck. One of them had long black hair. They were probably in their early 20s and were actually dressed fairly well. I didn’t say anything to them. I wish I had.

It was either the next day or the day after that the truck left. In its place was an older maroon Toyota Camry. I thought that maybe it had broken down in front of the house. There were some car parts in the passenger seat. A few days went by and I called crime check (moving van, abandoned car). They told me that according to the license plate, the car was not stolen, but it wasn’t from around here, and that I should call the abandoned vehicle hotline. I did and left a message about the sequence of events. The next day, an SUV dropped the same young man (the one with the long hair) off. He got in the car and drove it off the snow berm, leaving some plastic behind.

A day or two later, a passenger van in need of a paint job and the Camry were back. The same guy jumped out of the Camry and into the van. Of course, leaving the Supra parked in front of our house – and when the snow melted a week later, it was actually 5 ½ feet from the curb.

Another call to abandoned vehicles. The next day it was gone (yesterday March 13, 2008). It was gone for less than five hours and now it sits in front of our house – again. At least, it's parked next to the curb this time.

On an interesting side note, I saw some guys outside of the grocery store yesterday. When they saw me, they acted nervous and scattered. Two of them looked like the original two that I saw, one with his hair now cut.

There is this warning now on its windscreen. So, I guess others have noticed it too.

What is going on here? I think its time for a webcam!
